BOOKS ON BREAK/ LENDING LIBRARIES

We have just started work on these activities. Books on Break is an opportunity to give kids prek-5th grade the chance to take home a book during the summer break. Our goal was set for 2 books this first time, but some grades will receive 4 because of the amount donated. We currently have 2 lending libraries being built by our high school AG department. These will be placed in front of the Lanier Primary School and Lanier Elementary School. If you would like to donate books the drop off location are LCPS, LCES, and FMB. If you would like to donate financially please click the link below.

BOOKS & PAJAMA FAMILY FUN NIGHT

We partner with Lanier County Schools Title One Program each year to provide Books and Pajama Family Fun Night. This event takes place every January. The families are encouraged to dress in their pajamas and bring a blanket and books. Families come into the gym, sit on their blanket and begin to read together as a family. Music is played while families read. We serve hot chocolate and cookies. At this event we are always looking for volunteers to help with registration, interacting with families, and serving snacks. Please click below if you would like to help with this event.

READ ACROSS AMERICA

Three years ago we began celebrating Dr. Seuss's Birthday by visiting the Lanier County Primary School and Lanier County Elementary School with the Cat in the Hat. Once again community members volunteer to read to the students only this time they have the Cat in the Hat by their side. This is a favorite of the kids, teachers, and volunteers. To be a reader during Read Across America week in March please click the link below.

LITERACY WEEK

Community members go into Lanier County Primary School and Lanier County Elementary School for one week in September to celebrate Family Literacy. Not only do the children enjoy having community members read to them, but the volunteers always leave with a smile on their face. Increased vocabulary can make a difference in a child graduating high school. We take the time in the classroom to ask the kids about books in their home and reading to their family members. If you would like to volunteer to read, please click the button below and we will contact you the next time we are in the school reading.
